Dear Management

Dear Management,

I wanted to write you a quick letter. I am sure you haven’t thought twice about me since you fired me for really no quantifiable reason earlier this year. But I think about you all the time. I think about all the precious time I wasted working for you. I think about how you took me for granted, squashed my dreams, and killed my soul at little bit more each day for a decade. I think about the precious time I lost with my children because I was committed to you and your company. That is precious time I’ll never get back. You might expect this letter to be a nasty tale of all the horrible things you did over the years. Nope. I actually wanted to thank you for a few things. I learned a lot about life, character, ethics, and values from you.

Thank you for teaching me how NOT to manage and lead people. You taught me that employees deserve a real, professional management team. I will never again allow myself to work for a judgmental, hypocritical, immature, and unsupportive company. I am worth far more than that, even if you never thought so.

  1. Oh wow. I did something similar when I left my last place of work. I hope you found it cathartic, I did! Thank you for linking up to #EatSleepBlogRT

  2. Very nice. More people need to do that because management across the board might change.

  3. I'm sorry you were giving such a bad time but on the positive side you've got away and committed to surrounding yourself with better people. Good luck in the future. My post this week is also about being fired - what a coincidence - though I still have to see the boss every day! #KCACOLS

  4. Oh Lord, did you get me going this morning! I was fired from a job about 9 years ago. The asshole who fired me actually told me, "I just don't think you're capable." It stung terribly and my self-confidence crumbled. I was in the process of being diagnosed with narcolepsy, which most definitely contributed to some of my mental fog, but he had the opportunity to know this before my last day and know that I would be treated.

A low point for me was being asked to serve coffee to people who were coming in to interview for MY JOB.

The next job I got was wonderful. I started being praised and rewarded for the work I was doing. When I was pregnant and about to quit work for good, I was recognized as the team member of the year. A seemingly small award to the rest of the world maybe, but I was proud as a peacock and grateful that the universe is ultimately good to people. I got the last laugh.

You are quite obviously an intelligent woman and anyone who didn't recognize that in you obviously doesn't deserve your talents.

I hope that this post was as therapeutic for you as it was for me! #KCACOLS

    1. Oh my gosh. Thank you for saying that. You have no idea how much that means to me. Especially at this moment. It's been a rough day. Thank you so much for reading. I am so glad that you are in a better position now.

    2. My pleasure! It's true. As for me, I don't have any lasting scars resulting from working for that horror show of a man. Although, I do have the occasional fantasy about what I would say to him if I ran into him out and about. It's only natural....

    3. Good to hear! Wouldn't it be fun to run into them? I have thought so long and hard about what I would say. I would probably just chicken out. Thanks again for reading and commenting. It was just what I needed today. Happy Thanksgiving!
